Mexico Accident Update 14 Injured Returning From Youth Conference The youth conference in Ciudad Victoria, four hours south of Reynosa, Mexico was the scene of 1500 Mexican youth with four days of praise, prayer, and a uplifting and encouraging messages. As the 14 Calvary Commission Mexico orphanage and church youth departed from the conference on Friday night, July 25, they were ready to conquer the world. They sang and prayed for two hours until all of the joyful sounds were interrupted by an oncoming car crashing head-on into one of the 15 passenger vans. The first van rolled over six times as the 14 passengers in the second van of the convoy witnessed the tragedy. According to police reports, the accident was the fault of an approaching car which was trying to pass a car on its side of the road and other car it was passing hit them head on and the four people in that car were killed. The police report said that eyewitnesses reported that the car it was passing could have moved and given it space but refused and the crash occurred. Four people in that car died instantly. Everyone in the van was injured, to varying degrees (cuts, broken bones, etc.). Pastor Alejandro (Alex) Blanco, the driver of the first van, was taken to hospital in a pretty bad condition with internal injuries. He has fractured vertebra, but with time and a brace on his neck and back he is expected to make a good recovery. His oldest daughter and two others were under the van when it stopped. Amazingly (miraculously!), all are home from the hospital recuperating except two and the second story of the Josiah and Bethany Children’s Home has been turned into an instant hospital with members of the church as caregivers. Keyla, our 13 year old girl who has been at the orphanage six years, was brain injured and was not expected to live. However, she is out of the como, successful surgery and out of intensive care. Four adults in the other car were killed instantly. There is a need to replace the 15 passenger van and an “Accident Fund” has been set up at Calvary Commission. We appreciate your interest in the Josiah and Bethany Home and we wanted you to know about the accident. We need continuing miracles. The children in the second van were miraculously able to escape the accident but they were eye witnesses and need emotional healing. Everyone needs your prayers. We need your help. You may call us at 903-882-5501 and ask for Charlotte Fauss for the latest updates or financial assistance may be sent to P.O. Box 100 and designated for the “Accident Fund” With great hope, Joe Fauss International Director Decade of Hope! Thank you so much for your prayer support.
